What Not to Do When Choosing Music

May 2, 2018

Brian and I love helping our couples choose the best music for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception! But sometimes we think it’s important to share things that you shouldn’t do when choosing music too! Today we’re sharing what not to do when choosing music for your wedding day!

Don’t pick all of your favorite songs

I am a huge Beyonce fan! Like I seriously love all of Beyonce’s music all the way back to when she was with Destiny’s Child! But I knew that when we started planning the playlist for our wedding day, I couldn’t ask our DJ to play all of those Beyonce songs! We suggest that you don’t pick all of your favorite songs for your wedding day list! Be sure to choose a variety of songs that your guest will enjoy listening to during dinner and dancing to during the party! Definitely throw in a few of your favorite songs but don’t limit your playlist to only your favorites!

Don’t pick all slow songs

We love a good slow song, but we know that it has it’s place at a wedding! Slow songs are amazing for the ceremony, cocktail hour and even dinner. Maybe even for a quick slow dance during the party, but we suggest choosing upbeat and happy songs for your wedding reception party!

Ever wondered what you should ask your wedding DJ? Head over to one of our recent blogs to read our top questions!
