What to Ask Your Wedding DJ | Durham Wedding DJ

January 11, 2018

While chatting with a recent bride, she asked me what I thought that she should ask when looking for a potential wedding DJ! This was probably one of the first times that we’ve gotten this question and it really got me to thinking. Brian is a Raleigh wedding DJ, but I’ve never thought about what someone should ask the DJ that they’re looking to hire for their wedding. So I asked Brian what he thought. He put together a list of “what to ask your wedding DJ” questions! Read on to learn more!

Is the music edited?

Depending on your wedding guest, you may or may not want edited music. Definitely ask your DJ if his or her music is edited!

Do you take request?

Brian is always open to request unless the couple says otherwise but some DJs may not take request. It’s a good idea to know ahead of time if the DJ will be open to guest request during the reception.

Do you have backup DJ equipment?

We’re always saying how backup equipment is a must and it’s so true! Make sure that the person that you hire as your wedding DJ has backup equipment just in case something happens throughout the evening!

What do you wear to a wedding?

We believe that a DJ should dress professional. Definitely no jeans and sneakers. The DJ should dress according to your wedding guest. If you’re having a formal wedding, a suit and dress shoes would be nice.

Do you have reviews from past clients?

Ask to see past reviews if you can’t find them readily online! Websites like Weddingwire and Google+ are great places to read past reviews from couples.

Do you Emcee as well as DJ?

Be sure to ask if your DJ will emcee for you as well! Sometimes the wedding planner will make announcements but a lot of times the DJ does. Unless you’ve planned to have someone else make announcements throughout the evening, you will need a DJ to make announcements like dinner time, cake cutting and introductions.

We hope that you have found these questions helpful! See you guys next time!
