Trip to Denver, Colorado

July 19, 2019

Brian and I recently spent the weekend in Denver, Colorado and loved every minute of it! This was our first time flying west and our first time in Colorado! When Ashley and Adam invited us to Denver for their engagement session, I really didn’t know what to expect! I knew that we’d be near the mountains, but I never imagined that we’d fall in love with the city of Denver!

Our flight landed around 8:30 a.m. mountain time on Friday! We Ubered to the Hyatt Regency and were excited to find that we could check in early! We were starving and so we headed to Snooze, an A.M Eatery at Union Station for brunch! I’m not a huge fan of pancakes, but the chocolate chip pancake with pecans was so good! The vibe was really fun as there was a live band performing right outside of Union Station! After brunch, we headed over to Larimer street to scout locations for our upcoming session with Ashley and Adam!

Brian and I loved seeing all of the artwork along Larimer street! We ended up doing our own photoshoot with some of the murals! It was such a cool area! After walking several blocks, we decided that it was the perfect time to grab ice cream at Little Man Ice Cream! In an attempt to not Uber this time, we grabbed 2 Bird scooters and rode through town! This was our first time riding on electric scooters! It was fun and scary at the same time! After lots of red lights, broken sidewalks, and a construction zone, we arrived at Little Man Ice Cream!

Little Man Ice cream is a really neat place that sells homemade ice cream! When it comes to food, Brian is the creative one in our relationship! He mixed some flavors and toppings together to create the gorgeous ice cream that you’ll see below! I had vanilla ice cream with hot fudge and caramel in a bowl! It was so good! Simple, but so good! We ended up going back again on Saturday!

After ice cream, we headed back to our hotel to relax before dinner! What we didn’t realize is that by 6:30 p.m. mountain time (8:30 p.m. east coast time), we’d be in the bed asleep! Between traveling and waking up super early Friday morning, we were done before the sun even went down!

We headed to the hotel gym early on Saturday morning and then Ubered to Denver Biscuit Company! We had read really great things about this place but it was so much better than I could have imagined! The Franklin was the best biscuit that I’ve had in my entire life! I would totally visit Denver again just for this place! After breakfast, we walked down 16th street mall before heading back to Little Man Ice Cream for the 2nd time!

We stopped by the hotel and changed into our mountain attire and headed to Denver Central Market to meet Ashley and Adam (and their pup, Barley)! We spent the next hour walking around downtown Denver before heading out to the mountains! We’ve been to Asheville and Boone area and I’ve always loved looking at the mountains in the distance! This was the first time that I’ve actually been up in the mountains and it was so beautiful! I was fascinated with the fact that it was hot (think 90 degrees) in downtown Denver but in the 60s or 70s in the mountains! It felt amazing! After visiting Mount Goliath Natural Area and Echo Lake Park, we drove back to the city and grabbed dinner and drinks at a local burger spot!

Brian and I had an amazing time in Denver and are already thinking about taking the kids next time! Check out a few highlights of our trip below! I can’t wait to share photos from Ashley and Adam’s engagement session with you!
