Why I Love to Travel

March 4, 2019

As a kid, I found myself riding in the car to lots of new places with my parents! We would take trips to Virginia to visit Kings Dominion. We would drive to Maryland and Washington D.C. to visit family almost yearly. I fell in love with palm trees while standing outside of my Uncle’s house in Florida! I love the sand and waves at the beach! My Dad ran a trucking company for most of my childhood and that meant lots of road trips to different places around North Carolina! I didn’t know it at the time, but all of those trips would fuel my love of traveling!

The older I get, the more I find myself wanting to travel and see the world! I’ve always loved visiting new cities but my fear of flying made me feel limited for so long! Now that I’ve overcome “most” of my fears of flying, the entire world feels closer!

It’s not always easy getting away without the kids! I used to say “Oh, I’ll travel the world once my kids are grown and off at college!” Then I realized that life is short! We don’t know what tomorrow holds and I’d hate to grow old and never be able to live my dream of traveling! There are so many things that I love about traveling! I love riding in an Uber chatting with the driver about rap artist and life in the big apple. I love eating at local restaurants! I love waking up super early to catch a flight! I love the feeling of sand between my toes and the sound of the waves in the ocean! I love the pampered feeling of staying at fancy hotels! I especially love knowing that I get to travel with my love!

Travel will always be a priority for me! I’ll take the experiences over the things any day!
