If you read one of the many popular wedding blogs or magazines, they will probably give you a list of questions that you should ask your wedding photographer. We thought that it would be fun to share our own version of “what to ask your wedding photographer” directly from a Raleigh wedding photographer!
Do you have backup gear?
This is a very important question to ask your wedding photographer. There is no worse feeling for a photographer than to be mid shoot and experience a technical difficulty. It’s one of those things that you pray never happens. I was photographing the bride getting ready at one of our weddings last year when my camera started acting up. I could still shoot with it but I couldn’t see the screen to know what my settings were or how the photo looked. I panicked a little inside. Thankfully I had on a second camera and didn’t miss anything at all. But I was certainly reminded that having back up camera gear is a must!
Do you shoot alone or with a second?
I enjoy working with a second photographer but it’s not a must. Depending on your wedding day plans, you may want to know if there will be 1 or 2 (or more) photographers present on your wedding day!
What do you wear to a wedding?
You want to make sure that your wedding photographer is going to dress appropriate and professional. No jeans and sneakers unless that’s the attire of the guest as well!
How will I receive the photos?
It’s a good idea to ask how you will receive the photos. Rather it be on an USB, CD or online gallery.
Do you edit the photos?
Some photographers edit the photos before you receive them and some may not. It’s a good question to ask.
What is your photography style?
I believe that it’s important that you find someone who has a photography style that you love! Some photographers like to take candid portraits and some focus more on posed portraits. Be sure that you ask your photographer what they would say that their style is.
