THE JOURNAL

Rose Hill Plantation Wedding | Travious & Michael | Nashville NC

July 13, 2017

We recently spent the day with Travious and Mike at the Rose Hill Plantation in Nashville, North Carolina. Their wedding day was straight out of a fairytale. Complete with a horse and carriage! When we arrived at the venue, the groom was busy getting dressed inside of the pool house. Travious and her girls were inside of the house getting their hair and makeup done! Before long, it was time to head outside for the ceremony! The ceremony took place outdoors in front of the lake and gazebo! The lake created the perfect backdrop! I love that Travious and her father rode up to the ceremony in a horse drawn carriage. After exchanging their vows and jumping the broom, Travious and Mike rode off in the horse drawn carriage! It was so sweet!

The guest enjoyed cocktail hour followed by a gorgeous reception dinner inside of the ballroom. The remainder of the evening was spent with the couple as they shared toast, dances and cake! Travious and Mike ended the night with a beautiful sparkler exit just outside of the ballroom! Read on to learn how these two met and how Mike proposed to Travious!

How we met

A couple years ago, Travious was in need of a new vehicle when she went online to set up an appointment at a local dealership to test drive a car. As she and her daughter, Janiyah arrived at the dealership and got out the car, she was greeted by Mike. He was a Sales Manager at the dealership. Mike was very friendly. He called a Sales Representative to assist her. After the test drive, Mike came over to talk about money, the price point of the new vehicle. Travious was looking but was not quite ready to purchase. As Mike was punching numbers, he started a friendly conversation. He was very attentive to Travious’ daughter. He gave her juice and popcorn during the wait. During the general conversation over punching numbers, Mike talked about where he went to college and when he graduated. Surprisingly, Travious went to the same college but she graduated seven years prior. As Mike and Travious continued to talk, they realized that they knew quite a few of the same people. What a small world?! Needless to say, Travious left the dealership without car and no clue that Mike would one day be her best friend and soulmate. Mike continued to follow-up with her about a vehicle and even added her to his Facebook. She initially thought he was just being a pushy sales person.  After following up a few times, Mike finally mustarded up enough courage to ask Travious out. She graciously accepted. They just connected and the rest was history. They’ve been inseparable ever since!

The proposal

Mike went over to Travious’ place after work as he usually did. As Travious was getting a bubble bath and listening to her daughter read when Mike called from the stairs asking her to hurry and get out of the bath tub. He called her daughter and chatted with her briefly. Janiyah asked her mom to hurry with the bubble bath so Travious did just that. Janiyah rushed downstairs ahead of her mom. Travious rushed behind her. As Travious turned the corner at the bottom of the stairs, there was Mike on bended with Janiyah and the family’s dog Justin behind him. It was the best moment ever! Travious said yes, kissed Mike and they all embraced.
