THE JOURNAL

Our Happy Place

October 1, 2020

It’s October 1st! It’s hard to believe that this year is just about over! It feels like the longest year ever, but we’re so thankful for it! I think it’s safe to say that no one expected 2020 to be like this! Everyone, including myself, were so excited for a new year! I know we had all kinds of plans of celebrating with our couples, traveling back to Aruba, etc! We definitely didn’t expect for the kids to be learning virtually for most of the year. That never crossed my mind as something that would be happening in 2020! But even with all of that, we’re so thankful and grateful for this year!

Covid-19 and all of the shut downs have forced us to slow down a bit! It’s taught us to be grateful for everyday that we get to spend with family. To truly appreciate being able to gather for events and weddings!

If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that Brian and I spent the most amazing week in Aruba last summer! Unplugging from the world and relaxing near the ocean was just what we needed! Now that international travel is almost nonexistent (unless we wanted to get tested for Covid-19), we’ve been spending a lot more time traveling locally. We visited Clearwater for the first time as a family this summer and loved it! We visited one of our favorite cities in South Carolina, Charleston, a few weeks ago. This time, we found our happy place in Kure Beach, NC.

Kure Beach is a short drive from us and I really love this area! It’s nestled between Carolina Beach and Fort Fisher. It’s a place that we love to relax and let the kids play on the beach. I love that it’s never crowded during our trips! It’s also a place where I spent some of my summer days as a kid visiting with my parents.

Although we were there to meet with one of our couples, we couldn’t resist letting the kids plan for a bit! I can’t wait until the next time that we get to visit the beach together!
