Our Peloton Review

April 27, 2020

If you follow us on Instagram, you’ve probably seen Brian and I rambling about our Peloton! Now that we’ve had our bike for a couple of months, I thought that it was the perfect time to share our experience with you guys! Here’s a little back story about how I initially got into cycling!

In January of 2019, I took my first cycling class at CycleBar! One of our amazing clients, Sheena, is an instructor there and she invited me to take a class! I put it off for months! Then one day, my best friend and I decided to take a class! It was a Saturday morning hip hop class at 8:30 a.m. Up until that day, I had never taken a cycle class! I used to enjoy riding a bike when I was younger! As a kid, I pretty much lived on my bike. Years later, I bought a bike to ride around the lake trail near my apartment! But it had been ages since I was on a bike! And I’d never been on a stationary bike like the cycling bikes! After my first class, I thought I was going to die! It was so much harder than I expected! I could barely pedal out of the saddle (standing and pedaling). It was really bad! But I felt great the next day! And that feeling stayed for a few more days! Then I decided to take another class! I had that same great feeling after that class too! It was still hard but hard in a good way!

I started researching cycling and came across Peloton! I really enjoyed taking classes at CycleBar, but we live almost an hour from CycleBar! Plus with kids, getting to a class isn’t always easy! I really liked what I saw from Peloton and I decided to purchase a Sunny bike and use their app to take classes! I told myself that if I actually stuck with it and still loved it after a few months, I would invest in the bike! Almost a year later, our bike is here and I love it more than I thought that I would! Taking classes on the app with my Sunny bike was really fun! The instructors are so cool and I love how personal the classes feel even though you’re watching them on a screen! I felt like I got a great workout using my Sunny and the app together! But using the Peloton bike has been a complete game changer for me!

I’m not going to get all technical about the actual bike, but I do want to share what I love about my Peloton! I love that all of your metrics are displayed on the screen! With my Sunny bike, I couldn’t really follow along with the instructors! They might say “cadence of 75 – 90 and resistance of 40”. I had no idea of knowing if I was actually doing what they said! There are tweaks that you buy and use with other bikes, but I love the ease of having everything on the screen! Including my heart rate (I use a Scosche heart monitor for that).

Something else that I discovered right before buying our bike was the only community! I love the Peloton community! Especially the ladies of BGM on Facebook! I’ve been a member of the Official Peloton Community for a while, but I never felt like I truly fit in until I got the bike! I was also a part of the Official App rides group too! Which was great, but there’s something special about the BGM group! I think it’s the fact that the ladies are so encouraging and motivate each other to push on! There are scheduled rides that everyone can take part in. It’s really great and it’s made riding every week fun!

Brian never rode my Sunny bike, but he actually rides the Peloton! He spends more time taking the strength classes than on the bike. I love that aspect of it as well! The app really includes something for the entire family! There are cycling classes, boot camps, cardio HIIT, yoga, meditation, walking, running, family fun classes and even dance cardio! Our entire family enjoys it!

Just in case you are like I was and you’re wondering if it’s worth the investment. Just do it! It’s totally worth the cost and more! Our bike came the day after Valentine’s day and I have exercised almost everyday since then! Some days I may take a yoga class! Some days I’ll do a cycle or two followed by a stretching or strength class. On rest days, I may just do a meditation before bed! Same for Brian, he’s forever streaming a strength class from the bike to our TV. The convenience of working out at home has been awesome! Even before quarantine, it was super easy for me to get in a 20 or 30 minute ride while Keegan played or watched cartoons! Now that we are in quarantine, I’m so thankful for this bike!

If you are thinking about purchasing a Peloton, be sure to hit us up! I’d love to share our referral code with you guys! You’ll receive $100 to use towards accessories!
