“Do I really need engagement photos?” That’s one of the questions that we used to hear a lot! I may be a little bias since I love engagement sessions, but my answer will always be YES! And here’s why!

Breaks the Ice

Sometimes the engagement session is the first time that we meet our couples in person! Not only will you be nervous about meeting someone for the first time, but you’re also probably nervous about being in front of a camera! I still get nervous whenever I’m in front of a camera! I totally understand! I believe that the engagement session is the perfect icebreaker before your big day! By the time your engagement session is over, we want you to be comfortable around us as well as in front of our cameras!

Practice before your wedding

This is one of my favorite reasons why you need engagement photos! It will give you a chance to practice different poses and angles before your big day! It also allows me to see which angles and poses work best for you! I like to think that this helps a lot when it comes to getting more natural feeling photos on your wedding day! It also gives you an idea of what to expect on your big day! There have been so many times when I’ll mention a pose to one of our couples on their big day and the groom automatically goes into it because he remembers it from the engagement session!

Save the Dates

This is probably one of the more obvious reasons for why you should take engagement portraits! Save the dates are a little sweeter when there is a photo of the newly engaged couple on it! If your family and friends are like us, they’ll probably hang on to that save the date long after the wedding is over!
