How to Select a Wedding Makeup Artist

January 17, 2018

I’m so excited to have the talented Tiffany Williams with Tia Tori Artistry on the blog today! She has graciously put together a few tips to help you select the best wedding makeup artist for your special day!

Selecting the Makeup Artist for your special day is just as important as the dress and the photographer you select to capture your most precious moments.  Since you will be making an investment into a gorgeous gown and the photos from your day will last a lifetime, you want to ensure that your artist can provide a timeless look that will be the ultimate compliment to your overall vision.  All makeup artists are not equal so here are a few tips on how to select a wedding makeup artist!

Do Not Select An Artist On Price Alone

Choosing an artist on price alone could be the worst mistake for such a memorable occasion.  An artist who prices themselves below market rates may be significantly less experienced working with Brides/Grooms, the quality of products used may be sub-par, or they generally do not possess the skillset or expertise to deliver consistently.  In this case, you often truly get what you pay for!

Know your Artist’s Past Wedding Experience

On your day you want an Artist who is comfortable working with tight schedules but has the ability to be nimble as necessary.  You do not want your wedding delayed by an artist who loses track of time. You also want to ensure that they have a kit that can cover the various skin conditions and tones of your entire wedding party.  An Artist who specializes in Weddings should be able to provide a flawless service to anyone that sits in their chair and has you ready to walk down the aisle on time!

Do Your Research!

In the business of Weddings, a good reputation goes a long way! Once interested in an Artist, read their reviews from past clients as well as reviewing their portfolios.  You want to see the work they have done but also view what others have to say about their delivery, timeliness, and total experience. You can also search popular wedding planning sites such as WeddingWire or The Knot to gain more knowledge of the Artist as well.

These three tips will have you on your way to selecting the best Makeup Artist for your special day!  Congratulations on your engagement and happy planning!
