THE JOURNAL

Saint Martin

January 5, 2026

The cold weather has me reminiscing about our time in Saint Martin over the summer! I feel like I was meant to live somewhere warm year round. Brian and I spent a few days in Saint Martin this past summer. It was such a last minute trip but we knew we wanted a few days to just relax.

We landed at the airport, picked up our car and drove over to our resort. This was our first time on the island and it definitely took a few days to catch the vibes. We’ve been to other islands before but Saint Martin is so different. Part of the island is dutch and the other part is french. We spent most of our time on the french side relaxing by the beach, eating lots of Caribbean food and sipping on frozen cocktails. We took a ferry ride over to St. Barts for a day trip. If you ever hear anyone call the ferry the Vomit Comet, its true! Brian and I chose to sit outside and we’re so glad that we did. The ride was the rockiest boat ride ever but we didn’t get sick. We did get a little soaked from the waves. But we heard from passengers who sat inside that a lot of people vomited on the way over. The staff actually pass out barf bags so that tells you it can be pretty intense. St. Barts was a totally different vibe from Saint Martin and we enjoyed relaxing at one of the beach clubs after doing a little shopping.

Overall, we enjoyed our time on the island! We met lots of nice locals who made us feel welcomed and can’t wait to visit again!
