Preparing For Hurricane Florence

September 12, 2018

I still remember when Fran rolled through years ago! I remember lying in the bed praying that the storm would pass by! I remember hearing trees fall and hoping that none would fall on our house! The next morning we woke up to find that there were nearly 40 trees down in our yard! Thankfully none had fallen on the house or cars, but the yard was a disaster! Everyone on our street spent the next few weeks digging out and recovering from Fran! Power was out for nearly 2 weeks after the storm! It’s been around 17 years since then and I’m thankful that we haven’t had another major hurricane in our area! But with news of hurricane Florence, I have to admit that I’m a little nervous! Brian and I have spent the last few days preparing for Hurricane Florence! I’m so not a fan of storms and this hurricane looks scary! Just in case you are just as clueless as I am when it comes to preparing for hurricanes, I’ve put together a list of must have items!

Gas – It’s a great idea to fill up your gas tank prior to the storm!

Bottled water

Stored water – I like the idea of storing water in buckets or a bathtub to use around the house!

Candles

Battery powered lights and flashlights

Power packs for charging phones and devices

Battery powered radio

Bags of ice

Lots of snacks

Non-perishable foods

Charcoal – For after the storm when the power is out!

I hope that this list helps you to get a head start on preparing for the storm! Be safe everyone! And just because every post is better with a photo, here’s one of Kee during his first beach trip!
