When I was growing up, my parents didn’t let me watch a lot of the movies that are now considered classics. I don’t think I watched “The Color Purple” until I was in college. And even then I didn’t focus on it, so I had to watch it again a few weeks ago to really understand it. I’ve always felt a little behind when it comes to knowing popular quotes from some of the older movies. When Brian and I met, he introduced me to his most favorite movie ever, Coming to America. Somehow I missed this movie back in the day as well, but I can say that I know it almost by heart now. Here’s what usually happens. We will be sitting on the couch watching TV. All of a sudden, Brian will get this random line in his head from the movie and before I know it, we’re watching it again. It’s always so funny to me. And even though I don’t share the same love for the movie as he does, I don’t mind watching it over and over again with him. Because that’s what love is to me. It’s doing things that you don’t really care for because you know that it makes your other half extremely happy.
