It’s no secret that I love photographing details. I love when I come across a pretty detail photo that includes the bride’s jewelry and shoes. But the thing that a lot of people don’t see is the behind the scenes photo of the location photographers use for those photos. During one of our recent weddings in Durham, North Carolina, I knew that I wanted to find some pretty light for the brides shoes and jewelry. But the makeup artist was using one of the windows and a round table was blocking the majority of the other window. Sometimes I would opt for taking the details out into the hotel lobby or outside, but instead I decided to make what I had in the room work. Here is the space I chose to use. There was a round table with a white table cloth on the left, a pretty basic chair, a cellphone charger and a striped wall on the right. Not the prettiest of spots.
Here are the photos that came out of using this space.
Pretty cool! I think that’s a huge part of what we do as photographers. We’re not always in the prettiest or best locations, but we find a way to make what we have work. Of course, we still dream of having the prettiest spots for all of your wedding photos!
Until next time, have a fabulous day!
