It feels like I haven’t been able to pull together more than 5 words in one sentence in the last week! I know that I’ve personally had so many emotions over the last couple of weeks! Fear, anxiety, sadness, happiness. Our middle daughter’s teacher sent us an article yesterday and I couldn’t read it without crying! We’re all so blessed even in the midst of everything, but it’s been tough at times! I think everyone has spent the last week on social media, on the news websites, watching as life as a lot of us know it, change! I’ve read countless stories of people talk about losing their jobs! Businesses talk about losing business! Universities and schools are out for weeks! Our beloved Chick-fil-A is drive through only for the first time EVER! Cities are on lockdown! Toilet paper, Lysol, bread and baby wipes are selling out! It feels like something out of a movie, but it’s not!
Today is the first day of spring and that typically marks the beginning of our busy wedding season! Except gatherings of more than 10 people are currently banned in our area! We’re so grateful that 95% of our March and April couples have decided to postpone their wedding days until later in the year! Brian and I spend so much of our time preparing for each one of our couple’s weddings and getting to know them during their engagement sessions and phone calls! Our heart hurts for everyone of them right now as they’re also having to make decisions on new wedding dates! We love that you guys are choosing to postpone, not cancel! The show must go on! We will all get through this and your wedding will be just as amazing in the fall as it would have been in spring! Maybe even more amazing now that you have more time to finalize all of the little details!
You may be wondering what we’re doing to “flatten the curve!” Two of our main goals right now includes staying home and social distancing! Of course, hand washing and sanitizing too! With flu and cold season and children, we’ve always prioritized having sanitizers in our car and frequent hand washing! I’d definitely say that we have increased our sanitizing efforts at home and on things like our cellphones and keys though!
Staying Home
We’ve been spending as much time as possible at home! For the most part, we’ve been working from home! Our goal right now is to limit our time in public places! Drive-up ordering has been my best friend! Even before all of this, I try to limit my time out during cold and flu season! Now that the kids are out of school, it makes it even easier to limit the germs that come into our home! We’re a little sad that we haven’t been able to visit with my Dad and Brian’s parents lately, but we know how important it is for them to stay inside, safe, and healthy too!
Social Distancing
If we do need to venture out to a store or two, we’re definitely keeping our distance as much as possible! Kee is usually sleep during our grocery store trips, so we’ve almost always had one person in the store getting what we needed! Now, we’re making more of a conscious effort to only send Brian or myself into the stores! During our upcoming photo shoots and meetings, we will be practicing elbow taps instead of hugs and handshakes! I’m a big hugger, especially with our couples, but we know that hugs aren’t best right now!
This will pass! Our faith won’t allow us to believe that it won’t! We pray that everyone stays safe and healthy! If you’re one of our 2020 couples and you’d like to reschedule your wedding to a date later in the year or next year, be sure to reach out to us!
