When planning a wedding, I find that it is very helpful to have all the right tools for searching along with an awesome friend that is willing to listen as you talk about each detail of your special day! But before you start picking out bouquets and lace, let’s chat about finding the perfect wedding venue for you! The options are unlimited! From outdoor parks and gardens, to historic houses and beautiful hotels! The possibilities are endless! Choosing the wedding venue for your wedding might be the easiest part of your wedding or it could end up being one of the more complicated choices you make! Check out a few tips that we put together to help you in your search!

Do you dream of an indoor or outdoor ceremony and reception? 

Even before you start looking at places, I think it is a great idea to begin thinking of whether you would like to say your “I dos” under the clouds and sun or under a rooftop! There are some wedding venues that will offer both options so that you can always change your mind along the way! However, you will find that lots of wedding venues offer one or the other! A key thing to remember about outdoor weddings is weather! I suggest that our brides always have a backup plan in case of rain or snow (if you decide on a winter wedding)!

What types of venues are you attracted to? 

Do you dream of a country rustic wedding in a barn with lots of hay? Or do you see visions of a grand ballroom with lots of chandeliers and a big dance floor? I suggest looking for a wedding venue that fits your wedding theme! And then visit that venue! Visit until you’re completely satisfied and can envision yourself walking down an aisle inside (or outside) it!

So what does that price include?

Once you have found a couple venues that you really love, visit them and see just what is included in the rental fee! Some venues are all inclusive, some provide chairs, tables and dinnerware and some include just the space! Also ask about site rules! How can you decorate the space? Where can the DJ setup? What things are and aren’t allowed? Can you bring in your own caterer or do you have to use an in-house or preferred chef? The list goes on, so be sure to ask away before signing on the dotted line! Be sure to think about the additional cost of chairs, tables, linens, dinnerware, etc if those things are not included in the rental fee!
