DIY Wine Bottle Centerpieces

I love vintage and rustic centerpieces! I am a huge fan of DIY and creating unique things without spending a ton of money! I decided early on that I wanted to create DIY wine bottle centerpieces for our wedding! I knew that it would be an easy way to get cool centerpieces without breaking the bank! Plus these centerpieces are awesome for traditional or same sex weddings!

Here’s that I did! I wasn’t a huge wine drinker so I decided to ask my friends to save wine bottles for me! I told all of my closest girl friends and within a couple of months, I had enough wine bottles to fill each of our reception tables! Once I had all of the wine bottles, I soaked each one in a pot of warm water mixed with dish soap to remove the labels! Most of the labels came off easily, but some of the more expensive wine bottles were a little harder! 🙂 Once all of the labels were removed, I let them dry before spray painting them! Our wedding colors were pink, mint and silver, so we picked up silver and mint spray paint at Lowe’s Hardware for about $4.00 per can!

Next I spray painted each bottle silver or mint! Be sure not to hold the can of paint too close to the bottle! I made that mistake the first time around and the paint started to run down the bottle instead of being even all over! For the bottle in the photo, I spray painting the bottle with mint paint first and then placed two strips of tape around the bottle. Once the mint paint dried, I sprayed the table and bottle with silver bottle! Once the paint dried, I removed the tape to show the two mint strips!

Initially I didn’t plan to buy real flowers for our centerpieces, so I popped in one of the fake hydrangeas that I picked up at Michael’s to complete the look I was going for! We ended up getting real flowers after all! We filled each wine bottle with water and placed a real hydrangea inside on our wedding day!

Our amazing wedding planner, Mrs. Sharon with Cozy Up ended up finishing all of our wine bottles, which was a total life saver!

Have you thought about creating any DIY projects for your wedding? I would love to hear about it!
