I am still in disbelief that our wedding is just 2 weeks away!!! Wow, time is flying by! After sending out invitations and rsvp cards, I realized that I needed to create a seating chart! I can just imagine everyone showing up and having no idea of where they should sit! Husbands being separated from their wives! I am probably being a little extreme, but I hope my DIY seating chart helps our wedding day to run a little smoother! Here is what I did! This is definitely not the only way to do it, but this is what worked for me!
As the RSVP cards rolled in, I would add everyone’s name to a word document! I figured that I would have a list of everyone attending for the guest count as well as for the seating chart! So once everyone was added to the list, I went through and gave everyone a color! For example, if there was a family of 3, I would code them one color (blue for example)! If there was a couple, they’d have a different color! This made it easier when it came time to cut out all of the names!
Once I cut out all of the names, I then cut up a blank sheet of paper into squares! Each square is a table and I used tape to place everyone at a table! I read somewhere online that it’s best to put people at tables where they know at least one other person, so I used that as a rule! A lot of my friends have kids around Niya’s age, so we created a kids table for them!
After everyone was at a table, I then numbered each square from 1-13 (we have 13 tables, your number may be different)! Lastly I typed up the new seating chart for our planner! We are creating place cards and I wanted to make sure that she had an accurate list of guest names at each table!
That’s it! I was pleasantly surprised that it was easier than I thought it would be! 🙂 Now I can’t wait to see the seating chart come to life on our wedding day!
Have a great weekend everyone!
