Brian and I recently celebrated our 10 wedding anniversary! We knew that we wanted to getaway without the kids for a few days, but couldn’t decide where we wanted to go! After lots of Youtube videos (how else can you plan a vacation these days), we decided to visit Grand Cayman. If you know anything about me, you know that I love being near water. Maybe it’s the Aquarius in me.
After landing in Grand Cayman, we grabbed our rental car. Driving on the left side of the road was an adventure all in itself! Then throw in the fact that we didn’t have our GPS working when we left the rental car place. Thankfully, we reached our hotel. My first impression of the Kimpton was even better than expected. It was beautiful and the service was amazing from the start! Everyone was so friendly.
I’m a huge planner when it comes to going on vacations. I made dinner reservations for each night. I had a list of lunch spots on my phone. We had a couple of excursions planned. This trip definitely taught me that it’s okay to ditch plans and to go with the flow. We were too tired after traveling the first day, that we ended up going to bed around 3 p.m. and didn’t wake up until our sweet hotel lady knocked on our door for turn down service around 8:30 p.m. We ended up cancelling that dinner reservation! The forecast called for rain on the day of our sting ray excursion, so we ended up doing it a day earlier.
We got some much needed rest during this trip. I don’t think we’ve ever slept that much on vacation. We sat on the beach and watched the waves. Ate conch fritters and lots of other amazing food. Drink some of the best frozen drinks ever. We watched the stars from a catamaran and swam with stingrays. Visiting Stingray City was so much fun! It took a few minutes to get over my fear of the stingrays but once I did, it was so cool. Definitely a must do!
We had an awesome time in Grand Cayman and can’t wait to visit the islands again! It was the perfect anniversary trip! Check out a few of our iphone photos from our trip!
