This school year almost caught me off guard! Between summer camps and working, this summer flew by before I knew it. Our oldest started 4th grade this year and that makes me both happy and sad at the same time. Sad because I realize that she will be a teenager in a few more years. And happy because I know that she will be a teenager in a few more years. Here’s why I say that.
I remember the day she was born. It doesn’t seem like it has been over 9 years ago, but it has. I also remember her first day of preschool and her first day of kindergarten. The first days of 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade kind of just went by. Now that she’s starting 4th grade, I realize that she only has 2 years left in elementary school. To say that I have a middle schooler makes me feel really old. Seriously. She’s not a baby anymore, but she’s growing into a beautiful and smart young lady.
On the other hand, I am happy that she is starting the 4th grade. Each year brings on new challenges and new journeys. Nothing makes a Mom more proud than to hear that your children are doing great in school. I’m excited to continue watching her grow up. I know that one day she won’t be a little girl anymore, but she will be a grown woman and have her own family. For these reasons, I’m happy. Plus the thought of Brian and I being able to travel without finding a babysitter sounds amazing!
Happy back to school to everyone! Cheers to a successful year!
