It has been almost 3 weeks since we moved into our new house and I’m actually starting to feel a little more settled. Finally! There’s still a ton of things that I want to buy and do, but I have to remind myself that money doesn’t grow on trees and somethings will just have to wait. I spent the last week painting the girls bedrooms, laundry room and our powder room and I love how paint has a way of transforming the space. I am so eager to hang photos on the walls. We also got around to setting up Addie’s chalkboard in her room. We picked up this chalkboard at Ikea almost 2 years ago, but just never opened it. After putting it together and cruising Target for chalk, she was all set. Brian spent part of the day showing her how to write her name. The smile she gave us after getting her letters right was priceless. The type of smile that confirms that you’re doing the right thing. Moving from the house where I grew up and knew mostly everyone has been more emotional than I expected. I am so use to having my Dad right down the street and hearing my uncle next door on his tractor (we were in the country). There are a lot of memories in that old house. Memories from my childhood with my parents and it was the place both of our girls grew up. It was the place we’ve called home for the past few years. And even though I was so ready to have our own house with more space, I still find myself missing the old place sometimes. So seeing Addie smile made me realize that we’re okay. We may not be as close to family as we were, but it’s okay! It just means we’ll have a reason to take a little drive to my hometown!
