It’s amazing to think that Marie told Tommy no the first time that he asked her out! Now they are eagerly planning their special day for next fall! I had so much fun hanging out with these guys for their downtown Raleigh engagement photo session! I am obsessed with Raleigh engagement photography. We met at the location where Tommy proposed to Marie for the first part of their session before heading into downtown Raleigh for part 2! Read on to learn all about how Tommy proposed to Marie!

Tell me about your proposal!

Marie planned Tommy’s 30th birthday in Miami. A few close friends came along on the trip. This was one of the most memorable trips that Tommy had been on (these are actually Tommy’s words, but Marie is typing them lol). On the way back from Miami, Tommy decided to cap the weekend off on a memorable note. As the plane landed, Tommy reached out to Marie’s family and his family to all meet at a restaurant in Durham, NC. Tommy had a specific location where he wanted to propose, it was a roundabout location paved in stone with cascading trees along a path that we’ve walked on numerous occasions (hence why we like taking walks). Tommy asked Kayt, one of Marie’s closest friends, to meet near Marie’s house so he could show her the location. Shortly before Tommy proposed, Tommy took Kayt to the location and then asked her to bring the family and friends from the restaurant location to the proposal spot. Tommy had to get Marie to the proposal spot so he convinced her that he was going to take her out to eat. He ended up “losing” his wallet and having to turn around to go back to Marie’s house to find it (all a ploy to buy time). Tommy then drove Marie to the proposal location, where all the friends (the same group in Miami) and family were hiding. Tommy walked Marie to the round about location and asked Marie to marry him! She said yes and the rest is history. Cue the friends, family, and surprise engagement party later that night (the party in which Marie thought she was getting robbed). October 20th, here we come!

So sweet!! We can’t wait to celebrate with these guys next fall!!
