Alaina and Jim’s Wedding at The Durham Hotel

From our first meeting with Jim and Alaina, we knew that we’d have a fun time together! They told us how they were so excited to tie the knot and celebrate with their friends and family! After months of waiting, Jim and Alaina’s wedding day had finally arrived! These guys chose The Durham Hotel in downtown Durham, NC for their special day! The Durham Hotel is a modern and gorgeous wedding venue. I can totally see why these guys chose it for their wedding! There were a few first for us at Alaina and Jim’s wedding! This was our first time having pizza at a wedding and it was so good! This was our first time having an ambulance show up during the party! More about that later!

The weather was rainy and cloudy when we arrived at their Durham Hotel wedding! The ceremony was scheduled to take place on the rooftop of the hotel. Thankfully, there is a covering that allows you to have your ceremony on the rooftop even if it’s raining! Alaina was busy getting dressed in the penthouse when we arrived! Alaina and Jim decided pretty early on that they really wanted their day documented and not posed! I love that they wanted a more lifestyle and documentary approach to their wedding! This was probably my first time ever photographing a wedding where we didn’t plan for family or bride and groom portraits!

The ceremony was so sweet! Alaina and Jim exchanged their vows and then asked everyone to sign their marriage certificate that had been passed down in their family! Next, the guest enjoyed cocktail hour on the rooftop before heading downstairs for the reception party! Dinner consisted of pizza and hot dogs! Very fun!

Everyone danced as Brian played a mix of top 40 hits and some old school! At one point, an ambulance arrived! Thank God everyone was okay! The bride had a cut that needed attention, but Alaina didn’t let that stop her from enjoying your wedding day! We had so much fun celebrating with Alaina and Jim! We can’t wait to see where life and love takes these guys! Congratulations again you two!
