3 Reasons You Should Take Bridal Portraits

August 14, 2018

I love photographing bridal portraits! When Brian and I got married, I was so excited about the engagement session and wedding, that I didn’t put much thought into bridal portraits! I think sometimes bridal portraits almost feel like a little old school and unimportant! But I love when our brides choose to have bridal portraits taken! Here are 3 reasons you should take bridal portraits!

Trial Run

It’s the perfect opportunity for you to do a trial run with your hair, makeup and wedding dress prior to your wedding day! It allows you to see how your hair and makeup will look with your bridal gown! If there’s something that you don’t completely like, it gives you a chance to make changes before your big day! For example, if you notice that you’re not in love with your bridal portrait lip color, you still have time to change it before your wedding day! It also allows you to see how long it takes to get into your dress and how easy (or hard) it is to move around with your dress on! 2

You Can Take Your Time

Bridal portrait sessions are so relaxed! You’re not thinking about if the cake has arrived or if the guys are dressed! It’s just you and me (and hopefully a friend or family member to help with your dress) at your bridal portrait location! It allows us to spend more time on each portrait! We’re not restricted by a timeline and you get to just relax in your bridal gown in front of the camera!

Show It Off at Your Reception

I love when our brides display their favorite bridal portrait at the reception! We created a gorgeous 20×30 canvas for one of our May brides this year! She displayed it just outside of the reception room doors during cocktail hour! Not only was it beautiful, but all of her guest enjoyed viewing it prior to entering the reception space! Now that you’ve taken bridal portraits, it’s time to show them off!
