THE JOURNAL

2 Years and Counting

August 17, 2016

Today makes two years since Brian and I exchanged our vows. It’s been an amazing journey so far! It’s funny how before you get married, you have all of these ideas of what marriage looks like. But I’ve learned that every marriage (and relationship) is totally different. So today we wanted to share two things that we have learned about each other and marriage over the last 2 years!

We’re total opposites on some issues

When I was younger, I thought that in order to have an amazing relationship, my husband and I would have to be pretty much alike. We would need to like the same things and have a lot in common. But when I met Brian, I realized that we have a lot in common as far as our beliefs and goals, but not so much foods and other stuff. Brian loves trying new foods and I’m a “get the same thing thing every time” kind of girl. We both love to shop, but he prefers high end and I’m more of a budget shopper! But being married isn’t about being the same to us. We’ve learned that we’re different and that’s okay. It makes for really great conversations and also leads us to our next point!

Compromise, Compromise and Compromise

Being that we are different and unique in our ways, we’ve learned to compromise on everything. We’re both really laid back and easy going, so coming to an agreement on most things is really simple for us. People say that marriage is hard work and I agree. But it’s also very rewarding and so amazing to know that you have someone by your side supporting you during the good and bad times!

Cheers to the last 2 years of marriage and here’s to praying for many more years to come!!
