1st Camping Trip to Charleston, SC

Camping has never been something that I was interested in! Mainly because I’m afraid of all bugs (especially spiders) and my idea of camping has always consisted of sleeping outside in a tent in the dark! I think I’ve seen one too many scary bear attack movies! Then I realized that there are ways to camp that don’t consist of tents and tons of bugs! We recently took our 1st camping trip to Charleston, SC and it wasn’t at all what I expected!

We were heading to Charleston to meet one of our couples for their engagement session and decided it’d be the perfect time to take the RV on the road for the first time! I figure before we take a really long trip, we needed to learn how the RV works a little closer to home! We loaded up the kids and dogs and drove down to Charleston, SC! It’s only about a 4 hour drive from us, but it took a little longer than we expected! We stopped by Buc’ees for diesel and grabbed food before arriving at our camp site!

Most of the rv parks were completely booked but we managed to find a last minute spot at James Island County Park! The park is so cool! There’s a small waterpark area, a large pond, playground and lots more that we didn’t see! The park was really quiet and there was lots of shade at our campsite! We checked in and hooked up our electric and water supply then headed to meet our couple! By the time we grabbed food and got back to the park, it was dark and everyone was exhausted! Having to flip couches and make our beds while tired was not fun at all! At this point, I didn’t think camping was for me!

I awoke to a squirrel running across the roof! The morning was chilly and calm and I realized that maybe camping wasn’t so bad! It’s amazing how much your mood changes when you’re well rested! Brian and I took a stroll around the park before packing up the rv! The park was really cool and would be so much fun to visit during the summer months or during December when they have the whole park lit up with Christmas lights! Maybe next time!

I didn’t take nearly as many photos as I thought I would, but here’s a few from our first camping trip!
