THE JOURNAL

Horace Williams House wedding | Veronica & Quintin | Chapel Hill Photographer

May 22, 2017

May is one of our favorite months for weddings. It’s not too hot and not too cold! Flowers are blooming! It’s just an overall beautiful month! We had the pleasure of spending the day with Veronica and Quintin and their guest at their Horace Williams House wedding in Chapel Hill, North Carolina! I love that Veronica included lots of special details that meant a lot to her. Her beautiful hair combs were made by one of her childhood friends and she wore her Aunts Sapphire ring! Her cousin hand crocheted her garter. A lot of their friends and family also helped to make their wedding day extra special! Here’s a little bit from the newlyweds!

How did you guys meet?

We met as students in a similar friend circle at UNC Chapel Hill. Quintin was in his senior year, Veronica in her Junior year. We were trying to get our two roommates to connect and ended up dating ourselves.

Tell me about your proposal?

Veronica’s family was in town and Quintin wanted to take her to a “Seafood Dinnah!”. We went to The Oceanic, a Wrightsville Beach restaurant that has outdoor dining space on a pier that reaches out over the ocean. We had a perfectly normal dinner, with Veronica reviewing her advance directive wishes and the catalogue from passion party with Q. After dinner, Quintin suggested we take a walk on the beach and we were mimicking Veronica’s mom, Dawn, who has a signature pose whenever she’s at the beach. That led to a conversation about how one’s life becomes defined by the people you love and how Quintin can’t imagine his life without Veronica. There was a whole analogy about our love being like the ocean, sometimes turbulent, but always unending. Then Quintin got on one knee and said he had two questions: 1: “So, what up? (an inside Joke from the show The Carmichael Show), and finally 2: “Will you marry me?”. Then Veronica really had to pee and had to search through multiple layers of the restaurant before being able to find a working one.

What are you most excited about on your wedding day?

Having all of our favorite people from diverse backgrounds and experiences in our favorite place at one time.
