The story of how I chose my wedding dress

January 26, 2015

About a year ago, we were in the middle of planning our wedding and I shared a few tips with you about how to go about finding the perfect wedding dress! Now that our wedding is over and I have spent at least 8 hours inside of a wedding dress, I wanted to tell you the story of how I chose my wedding dress! I know how stressful it can be when you’re searching for the “one”! Everyone says that when you find your perfect dress, you should feel all of these emotions and you just know! Well, I don’t think that is ALWAYS true! At least for me, it wasn’t!

The first time that I ever visited a local bridal shop, I tried on at least 5 or 6 different dresses! They were all gorgeous gowns, but I never felt that instant click with any of them! It was almost like being a speed date and praying that the next guy that walked in would the perfect guy! And it never happened! The last dress that the lady brought to the dress room was my favorite! It was pretty and had lots of ruffles! It was very similar to the dress below (if not the same one)! I really liked it, but I still didn’t have that instant emotion that everyone talks about! So we left! After stressing out for a couple of more weeks, I found a dress on David Bridals website! It was from the White by Vera Wang collection and I thought it was cute! It was on sale (regular price was 1248.00 and it was on sale for 448.00, yes please)! It wasn’t my exact size, but I figured “hey, I can get it altered in a few months”!

I bought it and I am so glad that I did! It was gorgeous when it arrived and was everything that I wanted in a wedding dress! A mix of lace and satin, not shiny (long story) and had lots of layering and ruffles! Here is the dress I chose!

I must say that I did eventually get that emotional feeling! It happened once my alterations were complete and I went to try on and pick up my dress!! That is when I officially fell in love with my dress and couldn’t wait to walk down the aisle in it! 🙂
